About the program logo

Green is one of the “Pan-African colors” which are green, yellow, and red. It is a common color used for the national flags of the four countries which the partner universities in this program belong to.

Green represents “lands” in Kenya and Tanzania’s national flag, “forests and fields” in Ghana’s flag, and “the richness and the fertility” in Ethiopia’s flag. It really matches with the theme of this program.

The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) also use “green” in the logos for Goals 3, 13, and 15. In particular, Goal 15 (Life on land) coincides with this program’s aim.

As such we used light green to represent the richness of the African Continent, and dark green to the letters UU (Utsunomiya University) and A (the capital letter of Africa) to show the strong will. We drew the arrow between UU and A in white, which means peace.

We created this logo wishing to build sustainable relationship and strengthen collaboration among the 6 universities and Utsunomiya University.
