| Characteristics of the city | Location: Meru is a city in eastern Kenya on the northeast slopes of Mount Kenya. It has a cool subtropical highland climate with an average temperature of 24°C. The average population of Meru county is approximately 240, 900 residents. Meru County is a hotspot for tourism with a jumping-off place for Samburu and Buffalo Springs National Reserves and Lewa Conservancy, Ngare Ndare Forest, Lake Ellis, Meru National Park, to the northeast of Meru, via Maua in the Nyambene Hills. | Year of establishment | Established in 1979 as Meru College of Technology (MECOTECH). In 2008, the Government of Kenya converted MECOTECH into a University and named it Meru University College of Science and Technology (MUCST). It was established through Legal Notice No. 103 of 18th July 2008 as a constituent college of Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT). Meru University of Science and Technology (MUST) was established as a full-fledged University following the Award of Charter on 1st March, 2013. |
| Feature of the university | The university is a newly established university, which became independent of the other university in 2013. The University has three campuses, Main Campus (Nchiiru, Meru), Town Campus (Meru Town) and Marimba Campus. The vision for the University is to be a world class University of Science and Technology. The University endeavours to provide quality education, training and research in Science, Technology and innovation.
